It’s only a couple of weeks until Christmas but if you’re looking for some good holiday gifts, here are a few good gift guides for travelers:
14 Gift Ideas from Museum Shops Online
Check out a variety of museum gift shop items such as a skylight umbrella from the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, a tin bird feeder from the Museum of New Mexico Foundation or stackable salt and pepper shakers from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Outside.com’s gift guide allows you to sort by sex, price range and type to see a variety of gifts for adventurers and those with a strong interest in the outdoors. There’s an awful lot in here, including everything from electronics and camera gear to camping equipment and backpacks.
Travel & Leisure Gift Guide 2008
It might be from 2008 but the gift guide from Travel & Leisure features a variety of good gifts for under $100. There are 16 good ideas here including a moleskin notebook, mini binoculars, a portable solar charger and a thick raincoat.
National Geographic Adventure Gear Guide
The print publication is on the way out but National Geographic Adventure is keeping it’s brand alive on the web. This gear guide features 15 (some very expensive) products that would make great gifts for your beloved adventurer. The selection includes the Samsung SC-X105L Sports Camcorder, Havianas sandals, a Patagonia travel bag and a SkullCandy MP3 watch.
Travel Gift Guide: Goodies for people on the go (Washington Post)
Here’s a good guide from the Washington Post which features a variety of gifts from $19 to $140. Products include a travel electronics organizer, a travel dental hygiene pack, a flexible multi-use light and a spill-free coffee mug.
No matter where they’re going, most travelers usually start their journeys with a good guidebook. Lonely Planet tends to cater more to budget travelers and the backpacker crowd but they have a massive selection of books.
Frugal travel gift guide (New York Times)
The New York Times frugal gift guide features a selection of gifts that frugal and budget travelers might find useful. This includes a weekender bag, a folding bicycle, a flexible tripod and a few books.
Budget Travel’s Guilt-free Gift Guide
This short guide offers 13 gift ideas that are “practical, affordable and just playful enough.” The gifts include a foldable snorkel and mask, a portable solar charger, ear plugs and a flask.
Kathleen Crislip, the About.com writer for the Guide to Student Travel has a great guide for travel gifts. There’s a focus on students here but many of the ideas could apply to anyone. Her 9 lists include “Flashpacker gift ideas,” student travel gifts under $25, best guys travel gifts and top 10 graduation gifts.

What a great blog, Craig! It looks like you really put a lot of time and thought into this. Glad I discovered it through FLX and I’ll be back. Peace – Jen
